Do You Love to Garden?
Do You Want to Make Mount Clemens a More Beautiful Place?
Can You Give a Small Amount of Your Time? Sculpture Walk Initiative is Looking for Volunteer Gardeners
Macomb Cultural & Economic Partnership (MCEP) is proud to coordinate this year’s 7th Annual Sculpture Walk initiative. We currently have 10 micro gardens started and we are looking to enhance the surroundings at additional sculptures with addition of micro gardens where none exist. The micro gardens will only happen with the help of community gardeners.
MCEP is searching for volunteer gardeners or would be gardeners who would help create/tend to a micro garden near a present sculpture or at the site of new sculptures placed in October 2025. If you volunteer, you set the terms. Pick your place, choose how long, the day and times you want. Of course, you can change you day and/or time….you’re the volunteer. Volunteers can work solo, team up as a family, or share the fun with a small group of friends.
You pick the micro garden spot from the choices available and MCEP will work with each individual volunteer or small group to plan and create the micro garden. Plants for the plan will be provided. We will look for drought resistant, native, and easy growing choices.
- Are you interested buy lacking the tools needed? We have a store of small garden tools, including a battery powered edger that can be borrowed and returned each week to the MCEP office and will be coordinated with your schedule.
- Watering – One area you choose. We try to get plants that are drought resistant but there are times we may need a little help. You pick the space.
- Never done this before? We can train you in what needs to be done and work out a plan for those willing but need guidance.
- Weeding – plants pop up where they are not wanted sometimes. We can give you a small area by your favorite sculpture to sort plants that should or should not be there. We can train you very easily if this is your first try.
We hope you will consider being a Friend of Sculpture by getting your hands a little dirty and helping us make our community a more beautiful place to live in, work and visit. Many hands make light work.
